Originating from the governments Property Services Agency (PSA) Carillion Specialist Services Ltd (CSS) have, for many years, provided Building Regulation advice and certification on Crown premises and for Government Departments throughout the UK.
In addition to the above where CSS are not acting as the ‘Approved Inspector’ on a project we are able to advise the design team and assist with understanding, interpreting and applying the Building Regulations to ensure all certification is achieved.
How it works
- Carillion Specialist Services Ltd (CSS) hold term commissions with Crown and Government Departments
- As an approved consultant through the Office of Government Commerce (OGC) Carillion can work directly for all Crown, Government Departments and Local Authorities without the need to go through complicated tender procedures
- When not operating as the ‘Approved Inspector’ CSS can assist in negotiations with the Building Control Body dealing with the project
The scope of work can include
- Advice on designs at tender stage
- Value engineering reviews of projects under the Building Regulations
- Advice at project team design reviews
- Design assessment and detailed compliance report within 10 working days of drawing receipt
- Advice on local bylaws and other related legislation
- Assessment of compliance with Crown Fire Standards
- Attendance at design team meetings
- Facilitation of Risk and Value workshops to deliver clarity to compliance issues
- Consultations with Fire Authority or HM Fire Inspectorate at design stage
- Attendance at site meetings
- Consultation/hand-over to Fire Authority or HM Fire Inspectorate on completion of works
- Certification of compliance with Building Regulations
- Maintenance of project records in secure archive storage for reference purposes
- 3rd Party reporting on Building Regulation Compliance
- Assistance with preparing and submitting an application for Regularisation
